Armando Magri

4/14/1914 - 4/22/2001

MAGRI, ARMANDO JAMES
Harley-Davidson dealer, racer, and restorer, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on April 22, 2001. Born April 14, 1914 in Chico, CA, he moved to Sacramento in 1937, and served in the U.S. Army during WWII at Fort Knox, in Okinawa and Korea. After a successful motorcycle racing career he, with his wife Lu, owned the Harley-Davidson dealership in Sacramento from 1950 to 1983. An enthusiastic Harley rider for 72 years, Magri was always associated with the brand. In retirement he restored and exhibited antique Harleys, traveled extensively, set world-fishing records, wrote his autobiography and enjoyed his family. A great storyteller, he loved life and lived it to the fullest. Integrity, wit, charm, and generosity were his greatest virtues. He was a member of the Elks Lodge #6, a charter member of the Fort Sutter Antique Motorcycle Club, a lifetime member of the Capital City Motorcycle Club and lifetime member of the American Motorcycle Association. He is survived by his loving wife Lu Magri, brother Ernie Magri, daughter Terrie Bellis, son Ken Magri, son-in-law Larry Bellis, daughter-in-law Teresa Fox-Magri, grandson Theodor James Magri, step-grandson Tristan Fox, brother-in-law Homer L. Warren, sister-in-law Helen Magri, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends are invited for visitation 4-8 pm Thursday, Friday, and are welcome to attend funeral services 10 am Saturday April 28, 2001 at EAST LAWN MORTUARY, 5757 Greenback Lane, Sacramento. Reception to follow at a separate location. Memorials to the American Lung Association, 909 12th Street, Sacramento, CA 95814. Please ride safely.
